catching up

ok, things have been getting a little hectic..i tdont even think i remember much of last week here in school but from what i do remember ill elaborate...so in math class, there was yet again another presentation about tutoring for math students. it's the same thing as in the learning center but this one is located on the second floor of the building where math class is being held. this took about 20 mins of our time to be told basically the same thing that the last presentation was about over at the learing center that one day. so i mostly focaused this dude giving the presentation. For one, the guy was dressed as if he were ready to out to palms or to cananas, or maybe he went out the night before and just didnt change. the coat he was wearing had a design in the back of it...(cheesy)...and shirt also had a little design...(again cheesy, although maybe i shouldnt make fun of his shirt because i have one like it :S) and prada looking shoes that he probably bought over at burlington..(again, shouldnt mock....i buy my shoes at burlington too)...but the most distinct feature about this guy was that he looked mexican...dressed mexiczn..spoke spanish like a mexican...but it sounded like he had a canadian accent.....a mexican canadian....(weird) "i wanted to talk aboot the tutroing center here at laird hall" (you could only imagine how it sounded but the major thing about it was the way he said about....aboot)....so the guy giving the presentation waws this club-going chilango-looking mexican-canadian.....awesome....

after that, our math professor let us know that a family in his neighborhood lost everyhting in a fire and didnt have insurance. so he was selling tickets for a plate sale at $5 a piece. he ran out of tickets so i just gave him the $5 anyways. i think the plate sale was gonna be this weekend but i already i wasnt gonna drive to where ever the fuck he lives for a crappy piece of fajita, gross frijoles and a piece of bread.

So, the weekend happened, i played on friday with my band in this small little nowhere bar where apparently he was impressed and wants us again next month...it just makes iot harder to promote since we packed the place already and really dont want to do it again. the next night went out to say good bye to a co-worker/friend where some surprising stuff happened but i wont elaborate because this blog is about my school experiences and not my personal life (but it all fits in because of what happens later)....we stayed the night at another co-worker/friends house and passed out. the next day we all said our goodbyes and had a carne there at my buddy's house where we stayed up till 2am..(this is where it all ties in)....so i get home at around 3 am and passed out...there was no way i was going to wake up after all that food we ate and all that beer we drank plus shots....so i didnt bother to got o class and just vegged all day...(besides...its labor day)...today i missed the lecture in history class because i wasd running late..(again)..so i have to go over to my history professsor's office and speak with her.

In english today, we had a quiz about the parts of an essay. she wanted all of us to get into groups of 2and work together to finish the quiz....and of course...my luck has it that i get the only fucking mexican in th eclass...which of sourse he didnt do any of the work. he jsut basically agreed with everything i said. (asshole...i mean..pendejo) but still i did all the work because i wanted to make an A on this quiz.

i didnt get to blog about yesterday....between going to school, homework, and work..things are getting hectic..but its ok!! yesterday i didnt even bother to go to math but i did stop by my instructors office just to see if i had missed anything....i knocked on his door andx it seemed like he wasnt there but then he did open the door.....i think maybe he was looking at porn....i asked what we touch upon and he told me which is not really that important to me since all the online work is not due till the 11th.....after that i hung out at the kazen for awhile since i had an hour to kill between math and weight training and tried to study for the quiz we had on muscles.....i tried to use the internet on my phone but apparently the kazen is made of iron and brick and couldnt get that good a signal....i went to the computer lab and got as much information as i could.....in class, i found out that our coach is a friends dad, i graduated with her ´99 alexander ruff ruff!!!......we saw the weightroom, discussed the different uses, and then .........we weighed ourselves...back when the retaurant first opened, i weighed about 240 lbs. i weighed myself at the weight room and weigh 224lbs. two months later......so note to self ....keep eating nothing but fish and rice, works wonders.......

today

today went to history class and AGAIN......this chick likes to talk about movies and tv shows.....i dont know if she gets all of her material from the history channel or historychannel.com....or maybe wikipedia but this round girl likes to talk about disney movies like pocahontas sying thats how people lives when they settled jamestown.......weirdo......but i calmed down had a quick lunch before i went on over to english...my favorite..we had a freewriting assignment which stated that we make our point in at least 10 complete sentences. the topic was students who beg for a better grade after the final grades are posted. i went on for about 4 paragraphs, about 10 complete sentences each......i think maybe my english teacher is going to get either bored with me or frustrated because im very long winded when i comes to writing........

i dont think im that bad.

math fridays!!

so today we have math in a different room, at the computer lab. im thinking itll be like an online tutoring deal for the class....well, its not just that....there was a little presentation by this tiny chubby girl with no public speaking skills on the learning center´s services, such as tutoring, counseling, academic counseling, etc. after this, what seemed to be the longest 15 min in my life, we go on to log on to the classes´ homepage...where apparently all the homework will be done...every question has an explanation in order for you to try to solve it...if you get it wrong, you try again and it doesnt count against you until after a couple of tries.....so im thinking.....WHY SHOULD I EVEN GO TO CLASS!!! i really didnt know that the whole ¨no child left behind¨ law applied to college students...but apparently it does i guess...and this excited intructor (who let us know how his neice is doing in preschool again....like we care) again is very excited about the way the work is being administered.....which makes me feel like im wasteing my time....if i knew all the work was done online, i wouldve just done the online course and save myself the whole trip to the campus in the mornings.....assholes.....

i was late!!!

i didnt wake up in time today and i missed the bus!!!!...dammit...well, i was half an hour late to history and i did get to get a feel for this packed class. i had to sit along the wall where the desks are these small little things that barely fit a little 90 pound girl, let alone a 230 pound guy. And i think i scared the girl sitting in front of me, the only reason i chose the desk behind her was because it was the only one that had enough desktop space..i didnt get to see her face, though, i wondered if she was pretty...so, the class was already in progress and i started to notice a pattern on how these intructors operate..they all speak to you as if we're all little 12 years olds..i dont know if its because these are the basic courses where everyone is about 18 or 19 years old and they feel that they should speak in a manner in which everyone can understand....or if it's because these intructors never left laredo and stayed here because they never took it upon themselves to get the hell out...regardless, i walked in while she was lecturing about spain and portugal and their treaty of tordesillas.....( i think thats how its spelled).... then she went on to talk about the indeginous people of the americas and the differences between indeginous and european thought relating to religion, politics, and basic survival. As an example, i couldnt believe she used Mel gibson's apocolyto to elaborate on the difference between these two peoples. and she wouldnt let it go..in apocalypto this..apocalypto that...i was reminded of a scene in the movie Orange County when the english teacher asked his students about what they knew of shakespeare....in which they replied leonardo dicaprio and clare daines and goes on to mention about how his other works have been made into movies and goes off the examples IN those movies to explain shakespeare....of course i just did it myself...see what i did there?....

English!!

this class i think i might have to worry about, the instructor is a MILF and i might have trouble paying attention...but besides that its A LOT of writing and work that has to be done IN the class, which i like. I get the vibe from the intructor that she is going to challenge my writing and me...so im looking forward to the semester in this class.....

and right now, as i sit in the computer lab, writing this blog, these two idiots sitting next to me are watching videos on youtube laughing thier asses off and bothering everyone around them...im actually waiting for the people to work here to tell them something or i might go ahead and tell them to shut thier little retarded traps up or ill have to throw their faces through a monitor..ill gladly pay the $200 to replace it...ill make it up at work tonight.

peace!

first class...math..:S

alright....so the whole registration process was a nightmare....(they should re-evaluate the whole work-study structure)...the first class i was able to go to was my math class..college algebra and noticed that not much has really changed since the last time i was at this small little community college..freshman girls were still dressing up as if they´re hitting up some nightclub ...(in a hundred degree weather mind you)....potheads are still playing foosball, hackysack and ultimate frisbee.....the only difference is now that everyone has an ipod, an iphone or some sort of variation of both...thank god though that no one walks around with a douchebaggy bluetooth...after this observation i make it to class...(that whole scene was just the walk from my car to the classroom)...i walk in and sit down and wait for the instructor to arrive..all the while seeing people walk in one by one....couple of young girls, couple of dudes and then me....(the guy who took ten years to get his shit together)...in walks in the teacher, this young looking enthustiastic ´chap´ who then begins to talk about how exciting his life has been since monday´s class....(the highlight of his week is seeing his niece off to pre-school.....how enchantingly exciting :P) and then proceeds to the lesson....now, i don´t know if this guy is really excited about teaching math...or he thinks that because he is a teacher he is above and beyond the likes of us, his students. maybe for the other students, they were getting an informative vibe whereas i saw a condescending asshole speaking to us as if we were children in his niece´s pre-school class making every single little detail of his lecture as important as voting (always vote...rock the vote!).....nevertehless i was amused and it made the class go by fast as i watched him go back and forth in between all 3 chalkboards that were at his disposal as he explained linear equations and how the root word in linear is line..(that comment was directed towards english majors......don´t know why)..maybe for me, im remembering everything this crazy dork was explaining and so maybe im being a little hard on the guy.........but i think one of these days.....im going to have to hit him....

ON TO MY NEXT CLASS!!

i had an hour to kill so I walked on over to the kazen center (cafeteria....i may have misspelled)...when i ran into a co-worker (who´s a little hottie by the way)...we compare math teachers and how it sucks that she has to go to work and i don´t..(......ha ha......) ...we go on our separate ways...shit, ate and napped before i go on over to weight training..(which is an elective in my course plan)...changed into workout clothes and waited for the coach...(which i think is a friend´s dad)....i was kind of disappointed to find out that the class is not just a workout class but an actual class with written notes, tests, quizzes, etc. so, this should be fun, we went on to talk about muscles and the kind of foods we eat...which i am now tracking for a grade....ill have fun in this class...tomorrow....history and english!

official late first day

ok , so ....10 years later im at the illustrious Laredo community college campus.....(yeah right)...i decided to go back to college because the job market is horrible and couldnt get a decent job for the lifestyle i have made for myself after being laid off from ALS (automated logistics systems). I did get other job offers from other transportation companies but it reminded of me looking for another job when i quit or got fired from waitstaff jobs i had in the past and i didnt want to go that route again.....(plus no one wanted to match my old salary)....so thats when i decided to go back to college and took a job at a japanese hibachi steakhouse and sushi bar and took all necessary procedures to get back into school. I started at the advising office where i explained my whole situation and my advisor obviously didnt hear a word i said when i told her i wanted to get in tot he accounting/finance field. She gave me a course plan for a criminal justice degree and kept pushing the idea of law enforement, customs and border protection.....so i went to another advisor and she gave me the correct plan. I registered for summer 1 and passed those courses, summer 2 was a bust because i couldn't afford it. So , i moved all the courses i was going to take in summer 2 to the fall semester. registered, payed...awesome...i go to my first class on monday and was told by the teacher that she didnt have me in the roster and that i should check it out witht the bursars office....was kind of embarrasing because now i looked like a deadbeat....so I mosey on over to the bursars office where i stood in line for nearly 30 minutes and was told that i was dropped from all my classes because 10 YEARS AGO i didnt pay $200 for an installment plan deal i had made.....so i payed the hold and then i asked if it was possible to get all the classes back since i was dropped. they said no. I had to stand in line to re-register. i turned around and i saw people lined up as if they were giving out free water since it was 110 degrees outside and the line started OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING! i then asked if it was possible to register online when the clerk answered, "online registration has been suspended".......(asshole)......so i go one to ask if it was possible to register with the department heads....said he didnt know......(again.....asshole...) i decided to go ahead and try, anything to get out of going to that line.i asked the clerk where the business office is...you know, considering that i had just asked if i can register with a department head, i asked again if he can point to the direction to where the business/accounting department is..he went and told me, confidently explaining where the office was. i then thanked him, turned around and under my breath said...asshole....i follow the directions he gave and as i approached the building where he had told me where the business office was i started noticing that there were signs on the walls that said 'accounting' and an arrow pointing to the direction of where the offices were...i followed the arrows, walking the halls a little more and saw file cabinets, calculators, etc. i knocked on the door of some lady's office and i asked 'this isn't the busniess/accounting department for students, isn't it?' The lady laughed and said 'no.' THE ASSHOLE AT THE BURSAR'S OFFICE SENT ME TO THE ACTUAL ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT FOR THE SCHOOL!!! she noticed how mad i looked and she gave me the correct directions. So i go on over tot he busienss department and tried to registered only to find out that a coupe of the classes where already filled up and had to get special permission from the intructor to see if they would let in one more student.the next day i did just that i went to the classes that i was allowed to register for and then proceeded to get the signatures from the teachers for the other classes, which took me like an hour. then it took me another 2 hours for the line to the admissions and registration office and the bursars office, making me late to work. next blog ill talk about my condescending math instructor...(another asshole)....peace!
